Smartphones are all the rage in the 21st century, but are they truly smart?
My iPhone does email, web browsing, auto sync of contacts and addresses, text messages, and, telephone calls. It takes photos and videos, plays music, plays movies, and runs dozens of specialized applications that range from Google Maps, to weather, to stock market reports, and gives me access to tens of thousands of games.
Does that make the iPhone a smart phone?
Dick Tracy of comic strip fame had a wireless radio watch decades ago; circa 1946. It didn’t do much more than a basic cell phone does today; two-way audio conversation.
What’s next? Sun glasses with wireless, multi-channel video and audio communication, and voice controlled applications?
That works for me.
